What can be said about a man I already gave a best man speech to? Truth be told, a lot.

Daniel is the kind of guy who is treasured by all. A voice of reason, hope, and most importantly, peace. He’s probably the closest thing to Captain America on this planet—even more than Chris Evans—and I always joke to him that he’s a 70-year-old man. It’s fitting now because Steve Rodger’s *is* in fact a 70-year-old man in the MCU.

But it’s not just the fact that Daniel is our Earth’s Captain America that makes him special. No, it’s that he’s a treasured companion in my life, which makes him the greatest hero of all.

Daniel and I have this same-wavelength bond that whenever something comes along, we’re in-sync about it. I don’t quite share this bond with anyone else. We just seem to have like-minded thoughts on certain situations, that typically result in Daniel exclaiming, “Same wavelength!”

Interestingly enough it ties into how often we’ve fought. In our over two decades worth of friendship we’ve fought exactly once. Sure, it was a fist fight, but it ended there. Never again have we exchanged harsh words or been truly angry with each other. There’s just a deep amount of love for one another.

As Captain Gordimerica he’s also probably one of the most put-together of all my friends. Captain America stands for being a role model to the people, and Daniel is no different. He’s mature, kind, and always willing to help out. My needy ass actually feels a tad lost without his guidance. Co-dependance on my end, probably. Testament to his strength and ability to help people, definitely. I could not ask for a better avenger in my life.

Now in the next stage of his life, Daniel is a parent. It’s something special seeing the person you’ve grown up with become a parent. You saw them with braces, have their first kiss, graduate high school, graduate college, their first job, marry the woman they love, and now hold their first child. It’s something truly magical to be apart of. I can’t describe how I happy I am for your next stage in life, Daniel. All I ask is to keep Uncle JG a part of it. I want to spoil my niece!

In all seriousness, though, Daniel, I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. You’ve been there for me more than the majority of people in my life, and I don’t know if I could truly ever repay you. I can promise you this, through thick and thin, till the end of time: I will ensure the avengers assemble for you. And when they inevitably do, it’ll be time to save the mother fucking multiverse.
