There’s a unique bond between generational friendships. It’s always been a goal of people with friends to have their kids befriend each other. Well, what if I told you we had friendships that bonded each other three generations deep? That’s right, our grandparents were friends, and to this day, we all stay in contact. Sure, it’s not easy as when we were kids or adolescents, but the bond truly never dies. Though the distance and time is against us, The McGaris clan have all remained a tight-knit crew.
It all started when our parents would take us to scouts. For some odd reason, that was integral for our meeting grounds. I don’t remember many of interactions at scouts, but I do have the video and photograph proof that we all experienced together. We grew a deeper bond through the parties and milestones. There were classic variations that we had, we had the summer pool party, the St. Patty’s days party, the Christmas party, and graduations. You name it our families probably threw it. Each occasion was a special event. We’d get together to play Nintendo games, especially Mario Party. It was always crowd pleaser. And it wasn’t just that we were playing reindeer games with each other, we all genuinely enjoyed each other’s company. It was like a mini McGaris reunion at every party.
With time though our hangouts evolved. Mostly drinking and random nights of debauchery, typical adolescent shenanigans were had. There were some epic games of flip cup, beer pong, and of course, card drinking games. We were all truly growing up beside each other.
You know what’s even more special? Seeing these people get married to the people they love. There’s nothing quite like a wedding, in my opinion, and to grow up with someone and see them at there happiest there’s something truly amazing about it. Going to the McGaris Family weddings have been incredibly memorable and special to me.
I got to have the experience of growing up beside these wonderful people, and seeing who they would grow up into. I cannot wait to see what other future McGaris endeavors will take us. I’m personally just excited to keep this McGaris family generational friendship alive and well.
