Everyone has that friend in the group who is just generally a good soul through and through. For me, that’s always been Eric. I had the privilege of meeting Eric through our mutual best friend, Kevin. We were in AC after a long night of partying, and everyone was asleep but us. So we talked about life, love, and the pursuit of happiness—the classic conversation—for hours on end, poolside, until the others woke up. The thing you need to know about Eric is he’s just a positive person to have around, a very glass-half-full individual. He also reminds me of a Captain America type, which is fitting given that he dressed as Captain America one Halloween.
We’ve bonded over the pursuits discussed previously. Let’s start with happiness. Eric, like me, has always wanted to be an entrepreneur. He’s seen the inherent value of making a name for yourself on your own merits and not on the coattails of something else. Through our many conversations, we’ve always discussed the importance of being a proper entrepreneur and not a “wantprenuer.” You could want to do all of these things, but until action is put into place, nothing will get accomplished. He was one of the first inspirations I had for acquiring my first domains. Who knows, if it weren’t for him, maybe this blog wouldn’t even exist.
How about love? We would always discuss the various relationships we were
encountering at any given time, telling each other the brass tacks of each situation.
Whether we saw a future or it was as simple as talking to a girl. Something he’s
always credited me for was invoking confidence when it came to talking to girls. It
was basically something I’ve told a lot of my friends: don’t think, just do.
Overthinking will not lead to any positive results in the girl department. So fair trade, Eric. I helped you with the ladies; you helped me with entrepreneurship. Bada bing, bada baby back ribs.
Most importantly, our conversations about life, religion, and the mysticism of the
world—these are the conversations that stick with us. Love and happiness are
important, but they are byproducts of life. They don’t exist without them. Eric, you
gave me a deeper understanding from a spiritual standpoint that a God-fearing man goes a long way. Eric, you’re truly someone special. You’re the embodiment of
optimism and a pleasure to always be around. I’m thrilled to have you as a part of my life, and I can’t wait to grow with you throughout the years, discussing the classics, of course…life, love, and the pursuit of happiness.
